I'm sure everyone has heard the phrase "United we stand, divided we fall" many times throughout their lifetime.
So why write a blog on it now?
Well, if you watch TV (specifically the news) or have the patients for certain forms of social media, you probably know the answer. Politics or politicians, race relations, immigration and illegal immigrants, law enforcement, violent crimes, religion, violent protest, etc are dividing us (AMERICANS) into individual groups with varying perspectives.
On social media, friends (and sometimes family members) publicly insult and occasionally threaten one another because of a difference in their opinion on these subjects. Although I have the right, I don't make comments on social media platforms. I personally disagree with the aggressive, narrow minded, disrespectful, sarcastic and sometimes vulgar behavior of some people on both sides of these issues. Attacking someone verbally just compounds the problem and it really needs to stop!
Supporters at political rallies have become violent with each other. Protesters and people with opposing views at what begins as a peaceful protest for race relations have become violent. Both sides are at fault and the violence is dividing us further! We (AMERICANS) need to stand peacefully together and work together! We all require a better understanding of the issues faced by people that may look different than us. Political beliefs, our color, where we or our ancestors came from and our religion must stop dividing us as American citizens. We should all have the ability to exercise our First Amendment Right without violence from other AMERICANS with opposing views.
All AMERICANS should be equal! Our gender, religion, race, political affiliation, sexual orientation, level of education, socioeconomic situation or heritage should have no barring on how we are treated by the laws, our judicial system or other Americans of this great country.
Most Americans are good people with good intentions! The majority are caring people that are willing to help anyone in need. We (AMERICANS) need to stand united and not let the prejudices, bigotry, racism and violence of the few divide our communities and our nation. Let's come together and make some positive changes.
United we stand, divided we fall!
